MOMENT FOR MISSION in February will be for Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County which is a Christian housing ministry. Its goal is to eliminate substandard housing by partnering with low income families and community volunteers to build simple, decent, affordable homes. Habitat is not a “hand out” but rather a “hand up” to deserving, low income families, enabling them to buy and maintain affordable homes for their families. Habitat’s homeowners are working families making a positive impact on their communities. Habitat has been in Fairfield County since 1985, and has built over 150 homes, housed over 650 people. Habitat also sells lightly used building products and home furnishings through its ReStore operation is Stratford. None of this would be possible but for the financial contributions of individuals, churches, synagogues, and organizations, and through many hours of effort provided by volunteers.
