LITURGICAL MUSIC

Welcome to the Liturgical Music page!

Music is a very important aspect in the life of Nichols Church and we welcome anyone to participate in our programs.  Our goal is to Praise the Lord and minister the word through song and music.  There are a variety of programs to suit ability and ages.

Chancel Choir: The adult choir meets on Thursday nights from 7.15 – 9.15 pm.   The Choir sings a variety of styles from Baroque, Classical and Traditional to Contemporary. We always welcome new voices.

Youth Choir: 6th grade and older meet on Thursday nights from 6:15 – 7:15 pm.  We sing mostly contemporary songs four or five times a year in the 10 am service.  We also join the Chancel Choir for special numbers.

Cherub Choir: The 3-year olds to 1st grade meet during their Christian Education classes.  The music program works hand in hand with the Christian Education leaders to sing songs that use literal scripture to reinforce learning goals.

Christian Education: The 2nd – 6th graders have a new musical program in order to teach them bible passages and liturgy.

Solo/Ensemble Singing: For talented singers, a soloist or ensemble will sing during the Offertory at the 10:00 am service.

Handbell Choir: We have a 4-octave range bell choir who meet on Tuesday nights from 6.30 – 8.00 pm.  We play a variety of styles and perform at services or other functions about 6 – 8 times a year and would love to hear from anyone who would like to join us.

Wesley Choir: (2nd – 6th grade) has been part of the NUMC ministry for a number of years and there is an opportunity for someone to lead this group.

Instrumentalists: We are always interested to hear from people who have an expertise in a musical instrument, especially trumpet, drums, guitar.

Musical Director and Organist: Gregory Horton, can be reached at 203-926-1683 or gregoryhorton@sbcglobal.net.
