Binky Patrol is a national organization that provides blankets to ill and traumatized children. Donations have been made to local hospitals, Bridgeport Rescue, Head Start programs and those who have been in the news after facing difficult situations. Our local chapter is located in Monroe, CT. It was founded by Jeanne Malgioglio ten years ago after the Sandy Hook tragedy. In the subsequent years this chapter has created and donated over 19,000 blankets.
It is our hope that we can expand our support of the Binky Patrol on an ongoing basis. This ministry is an opportunity for making donations, but even more importantly a concrete hands-on mechanism to make a difference in a child’s life.
NUMC will be sponsoring a blanket making event on Saturday, April 13th from 10 am to 1 pm. You can support the ministry that day with your time, donations, and/or food and snacks. If you plan to attend, please bring a pair of scissors and a ten-dollar donation. The Youth Group will be making blankets together on March 17h. I am asking them to also bring scissors and a donation, I will bring all other supplies. So, calling all quilters, knitters/crocheters, and those who aren’t the least bit crafty, to support this deserving ministry.
